Trailer Repair Prices: What Each Job Typically Costs
These are typical ranges for trailer repair around Ocala. Bearing repack $150 to $250 per axle. Brake adjustment $80 to $150. New electric brake assemblies $350 to $600 per axle. A wiring fault $100 to $200. Wood floor about $9 to $13 per square foot. Axle replacement $400 to $1,800 per axle installed. Your quote is written by the job, in writing, before work starts.
We built these numbers from published price lists of trailer shops, an axle distributor’s cost guide, horse trailer flooring cost guides and retail parts prices. No Ocala trailer shop we found publishes its prices, which is a good reason to publish ours.
Wheel bearings and hubs
| Job | Typical price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bearing repack, single axle | $150-$250 per axle | Both hubs: clean, inspect, repack, new seals, adjust |

| Bearings and races replaced | $150-$360 per axle | When cups are pitted or rollers blued |

Dexter’s manual calls for bearings to be lubricated every 12 months or 12,000 miles, and Featherlite’s service chart says an unsealed bearing that has been immersed in water should be replaced before the trailer is used again. See wheel bearing service.

What moves a quote
- What the wheels show. A repack becomes new bearings and races when the cups are pitted. A brake adjustment becomes new assemblies when the magnets are worn through.
- Where the work happens. Most running gear and wiring jobs are done where the trailer sits. Floors, axle swaps and structural welds may need the shop.
- Trip charge, if any. For the farther towns it is its own line.
Our typical ranges are built from published sources rather than an Ocala price list, and the hourly rates behind them run $125 to $155 an hour in the shops we checked. We would rather show you how a number is built than ask you to trust it. For a quick estimate, the bearing and brake calculator uses these same numbers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do these prices come from?
From published price lists of trailer repair shops (Trailer Boss, Fleming Trailers, Sacramento Trailer Store), the Axle Inc. trailer axle cost guide, and horse trailer flooring cost guides, plus retail parts prices. No Ocala shop we found publishes a price list, so we publish ours as typical ranges built from those.
Is there a trip charge?
Sometimes, for the farther places. If there is one, it is a separate line on the quote before you agree to anything. It never hides inside a job price.
Why is a tandem axle not exactly double a single?
Mostly it is, because there are twice as many hubs and brakes. Some setup is shared, and published guides note per-axle labor drops a little on tandem jobs done together, so a tandem often lands just under double.
Do these prices include parts?
The brake assembly range includes the assemblies. The repack range is labor plus grease and seals, which a few shops list as parts extra, so your quote names them. Wiring rewires, couplers, jacks, tires and breakaway kits are listed as labor plus the part, because the part varies so much.
