About Trailer Repair Ocala
We repair trailers around Ocala: wheel bearings, electric brakes, wiring and lights, floors, axles, welds, tires, couplers and jacks, on horse and livestock trailers, utility, landscape, equipment, dump, cargo, car hauler and boat trailers. That is the whole job. We do not sell trailers, and we are not a dealer or service center for any brand. We are the people you call when the trailer is sound and something on it has worn out.
Why this work exists here
Marion County has 75,000 horses and ponies, by a 2023 study for the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association, and every one of them rides in a trailer sooner or later. Add the landscape crews, the equipment haulers, the dump trailers on every new build, and the boat trailers headed to Lake Weir, the Rainbow River and the Ocklawaha, and there are a lot of trailers here that do real work.
Most of them get serviced only when something breaks. The axle makers’ manuals say otherwise: Dexter calls for bearings to be repacked every 12 months or 12,000 miles and brakes adjusted every 3,000 miles. A trailer that sits through the summer and then hauls every weekend of the winter circuit needs that service in the fall, not in March on the side of the road.
How we work
- Typical prices, published. Our pricing page lists typical ranges for every service, built from published trailer shop price lists and cost guides. Your quote is written by the job, so you can do the brakes now and the floor later.
- We spin every wheel before we quote. On running gear, we lift each wheel, feel for play, listen for roughness and check the brake drag. A repack quote that ignores a pitted cup is not a quote.
- Honest about logistics. Bearings, brakes, wiring, breakaway systems, tires, couplers, jacks and ramp springs are done where the trailer sits. A full floor, an axle swap or structural welding may need the trailer brought in. We tell you which before you book.
- We stop and show you. If a job turns up something new, a scored drum or a cracked crossmember, we stop, show you, and price it as its own line. You decide.
- We test on the plug. Every light, the brakes against your controller, and the breakaway pin pulled. Florida wants breakaway brakes on a trailer over 3,000 lb to hold for at least 15 minutes (s. 316.261(4)); we check that the system actually applies.
What we will not claim
This site makes no claims about credentials, approvals or paperwork, because a web page cannot prove any of them. We do not inspect trailers for DOT, and we do not work on semi trailers, commercial fleets or RVs. Before you hand any trailer to any repairer, us included, ask for proof of insurance.
Where we work
Ocala and six places around it: Belleview, Dunnellon, Williston, Reddick, Anthony and Fort McCoy. Each town page covers what is different there. Any trip charge for the farther places is a line on the quote, before you agree to anything.
If you are not sure what your trailer needs, start with the problems pages: each one has a check you can do yourself first.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are you a dealer for any trailer brand?
No. We are independent, and we are not a dealer, authorized service center or warranty provider for Featherlite, Sundowner, Exiss, 4-Star, Dexter or any other maker. If your trailer is under the maker's warranty, the dealer is the first call. Out-of-warranty repair on any make is our work.
Do you do DOT inspections?
No. We repair trailers; we do not inspect or certify them for anyone. We also do not work on semi trailers or commercial fleets, which need a truck shop.
Can I watch the work?
Yes, and on a hub job we would rather you did. We show you the old bearings, the drum faces and the magnets, so you see why a part is or is not being replaced.
