Trailer Bearing and Brake Service Cost Calculator

Pick the job and the number of axles, and this gives the typical range for trailer bearing and brake work around Ocala. It uses the same per-axle numbers as the pricing page, which come from published trailer shop price lists and an axle distributor’s cost guide.

What each answer changes

  • The job is most of the price. A repack is labor, grease and seals. New brake assemblies are parts-heavy: magnets, shoes, springs and backing plates on both sides of each axle.
  • Axle count multiplies it. A tandem has four hubs and four brakes, so it is close to double a single.

What the calculator cannot see

It cannot see a scored drum, a seized spindle nut, a bent spindle or a dead breakaway battery. Those are separate lines on a real quote. Before you send it, do the quick checks on hub hot or wheel noise and electric brakes not working.

How often this job comes up

Dexter’s manual calls for bearings to be lubricated every 12 months or 12,000 miles and brakes adjusted every 3,000 miles. Featherlite says an unsealed bearing that has been immersed should be replaced before the next use, so boat trailers come up more often. See wheel bearing service, trailer brake repair and boat trailer repair.

If the floor needs work too, the floor calculator prices that separately.

Estimated range Typical Ocala pricing, before anyone visits

Every line is a typical per-axle range from the pricing page, multiplied by axle count. Published guides note per-axle labor drops a little on tandem jobs done together, so a tandem often lands just under the top of this range. Scored drums, a damaged hub ($100-$250 per wheel), a breakaway switch or kit ($100-$250) and any trip charge are separate lines on a real quote.

An estimate, not a quote. The firm number comes after we spin the wheels and pull a hub, in writing before any work starts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do these numbers come from?

From the pricing page, which is built on published trailer shop price lists and an axle distributor's cost guide: repack $150 to $250 per axle, bearings and races $150 to $360, brake adjustment $80 to $150, new electric brake assemblies $350 to $600 per axle.

Why would a repack turn into a replacement?

Because what is inside the hub decides it. Pitted cups, rust on the rollers or blue heat marks mean the bearings and races need replacing, not just new grease. We show you the parts before you approve the change.

Do I have to give an email?

No. The range updates as you change the options, and sending it to the quote form is optional.
